Ventrilo is a third person program which allows multiple people to communicate outside of a game. It's a very very very handy program, and positively every clan will ask you to have it ready to go.
Step to Step Guide:
1. Go to ventrilo.com/download.php
2. Scroll down to where it says Platform (The blue part)
3. Assuming you all have windows, click on Windows i386 - 32bit V
2.30 download tab
4. After download is complete, open and install the program to your computer
5. Open the program
6. The first blank space should be "Username" click on the right arrow (->) to the right of it.
7. Click on "New" and enter the username you wish to be seen as.
8. Press OK
9. In the first screen the second blank box should have "Server", click on the right arrow (->) next to it.
10. Under the drop box click "New" and put in a name you'll remember a server by. (You might remember ours as CotD, or some sort of that) Click OK
11. Now below the "New, Clone, and Delete" tabs is the blank space Hostname or IP. Enter the IP you have been given. (CotD enter 24.52.170.107)
12. Below Hostname or IP there is a blank space that says Port Number, this is the secondary number usually given. (CotD enter 3784) Press OK.
13. Now select your name from Username dropbox, and your server from Server dropbox, and click Connect on the right side of the box. If connection problem occurs, recheck information.
14. When connected on the right of the screen go to set up. Check Use-Push-To-Talk-Hotkey and where it says hotkey, put a keyboard key you would like to use to communicate. Be aware that everytime you want to talk you must press this button, so make it convenient (Mine is Left Alt, a lot of people have theirs as F or something)
15. Have a fun time talking.
Hints:
A. When you go to make your name (or you can edit it by selecting it in the drop box and clicking on the right arrow [->]) there is a section called Phonetic. This is what a lazy, moronic voice will say when you enter.
B. When People give you Ventrilo Information it usually comes in this format 1. (a)43.23.325.463 (b)3784 (c)jig. a= IP, b=Port Number, c=Password
C. Ventrilo IP's can also come in the form of Host Names, which look like this Atomic5.nrgservers.net. The host name will vary between servers, but it's always (name).(website)
D. When connected there is a comment section on the right side of the screen. This can come in handy if you're tabbed in/want to communicate with members with no sound. There is also a chat screen where you can write to your friends, and when TTS is enabled the annoying voice says the words you've typed!
Well that's the entire thing. Hope you guys find it useful.
